Kimi Records on Tour ! Juuuhhuuu!

Tommorrow at the "Gamli Baukur": Kimi Records Tour! Plus Special Price on my favorite "Kaldi Beer!" Seems perfect !!

We are going on a Summerfun Tour!. We being Kimi Records and 4 bands signed with the label, Benni Hemm Hemm, Borko, Morðingjarnir and Reykjavík!. We will stop at Iceland's hottest places around the countryside and bring more hotness to the table. When Kimi Records Summerfun Tour comes to town speakers explode. Among places we are exploding are Ísafjörður (The hometown of Reykjavík! boys and allegedly Mugison), Húsavík (whale watching capital of the world), Seyðisfjörður (Nicest place in the world) and Höfn (lobster capital of Iceland).
The setup is quite simple. Every concert starts at 20:00 and the admission fee is 1.000 kr. / 9 eur. Tickets are sold at the door except for the NASA show in Reykjavík. You can buy ticktets for that show midi.is You will be able to buy T-shirts and CDs from us before, during and after the show so bring alot of money. There will be a special price on Kaldi (bruggsmidjan.is) before, during and after the show so bring more money. The schedule is here and on the right. SAVING ICELAND PROTESTCAMP NOW

"The 4th Saving Iceland action camp has now begun in a beautiful threatened geothermal valley beside Hellisheiðisvirkjun in the Hengill area, where it will target the expansion of the geothermal power station for the Grundartangi plant and other Southwestern heavy industry projects. (1) Tis year activists from Iceland, Australia, America, Denmark, Germany, Britain, Holland, France, Belgium and Italy amongst others have joined the campaign as information about the destruction of Iceland’s wilderness has spread. This year the campaign will focus specifically on the humanitarian effects of Aluminium production, from the genocides associated with mining in India, South America, Jamaica and more, to the use of Aluminium for arms manufacture and the defence industry (2).

A week of international Saving Iceland solidarity actions will take place from July 21st to 27th in different European countries. Moreover a specialised conference with respected Indian writer and Aluminium expert Samarendra Das and Andri Snær will examine the idea of “green Aluminium” and the effects of the Aluminium industry in the Third World, (July 23 at Reykjavikur Akademia).

thats how it is, in your favorite "wanna-be-suitable-and-ecofriendly-1-world-country"Iceland:

Whalemeat (Minke Whale) sold in the groccery-store in Husavik, North Iceland. While on the other side of the street thousends of tourists go whale watching and the husavik whale museum tries to educate people on ocean mammals, esp. on whales, the store sells your friendly Minke in a box.

And as u can see, the wooden box of meat is getting empty ... left to the meat some reciptes so that people know how to pepare it, wonder why they try to avoid the word and the picture of a "whale" ("hvalur" in icelandic)?

natuerlich gehts mir gut ...

, aber vor lauter arbeit und "wochenende" komme ich kaum zum schreiben.

Am Donnerstagabend mit der ganze Truppe nach der Arbeit raus auf die Terasse des Pubs "Gamli Baukur" (10 Schritte entfernt), den islaendischen Sommer geniessen, sprich Bier in der Hand und Sonne im Gesicht, am Freitag hatte unsere islaendische Koellegen ihren Geburtstag gefeiert, was dann erst um 3 uhr morgens endete und gestern ein wunderbares Barbecue bei einem der Cpt. von NorthSailing in seinem Garten(haeuschen), spater dann nayuerlich in den Pub.

Wer jetzt meint, wir wuerden hier nur feieren, dem kann ich sagen, das wir trotz wenig schlaf und 10h Schichten von morgens 9 bis abends um 19 uhr bewaeltigen.

Dazu gehoert eben nicht nur Ticketverkauf, sondern auch viele kleine Dinge (Toilettenputzen, Kasse, Einkaeufe) bis hin zu den taeglichen "Research-Fahrten" raus in die Bay und Fuehrungen durchs Museum zwischen 1/2 und 1 1/2 Stunden.

Die Fuehrungen sind defntiv anstrengend ist, nicht nur wegen all dem "Wissen", was man einsaugen muss, sondern auch, weil ich die Leute ja auch "unterhalten" will und nicht langweilen.

Meist in Englisch, aber natuerlich auch in Deutsch (ich muss _unbedingt_ nach Frankreich oder Quebec mein Franzoesisch auffrischen, wirklich wichtig! In Husavik sind 2 Auslaender aus New Caledonia (!!!) und moeglichweise geben sie mir "Nachhilfe), wobei Englisch "leichter" ist und "zeh germans" meistens nerven, weil ich mitbekomme, wie verpeilt manch einer ist und ich mich frage, warum manche Leute hier hin kommen, waeren sie doch besser in "Malle" aufgehoben. Island ist wirklich voll von deutschen Touristen, die uns mit "gruess gott" begluecken, worauf ich, es recht versuche nur englisch zu spraechen. horror!

Dazwischen mache ich gerade vile neue Displays und gestalte Raeume neu etc. Man darf sagen, das ein "eigener" Graphiker natuerlich ein Segen fuer jedes Museum ist und es viel zu tun gaebe, waere mehr Zeit dazu, aber natuerlich auch Geld vorhanden. Ich bin jedoch garnicht so scharf darauf, bin ja nicht hier um als Grafiker zu arbeiten ...

Ps: Am 13 Juli spielt hier die deutsche Metal/Trash/Hardcoreband "Contradiction" aus Wuppertal. Wir freuen uns schon jetzt auf die Performance :)

am kommenden Wochenende ist das "Protestcamp", aber ich weiss immer noch nicht wo ?! um ehrlich zu sein, scheint "savingiceland" leider auch ein ziemlich verpeilter haufen zu sein ... und kommt mir nicht von wegen, nicht sagen wo das camp ist, wegen der polizei: ziemlich daemlich Tatik auf ner Insel mit 300.000 Einwohnern, wo jeder jeden kennt.

Ich kann ja leider nicht ratzfatz mal kurz nach Reykjavik runter oder Egilstadir, das muss ich zumindestens ne Woche vorher wissen ...

Roadtrip around Iceland

1.450 km in 3 Tagen, Wetter war fuer islandische Verhaltnise gut,
Toyota Yaris, "Press Clotch Pedalto Start", Touristen, Wasserfaelle, Gletscher, Rentiere und Gravelroads, dazwischen nur Weite, Lavaebenen bis zum Horizont und endlose leere Fjorde. Viel gesehen, viel zu berichten ...

wandern im nationalpark war grossartig, doch morgen gehts weiter, nach Reykjavik, auf das nattura konzert !!! juuuuhhhuuu alles weitere und bildern entweder per wlan vor ort oder in 3 tagen, inklusive bericht von der i9sland umrundung!

ihr duerft gespannt sein, jetzt muss ich Lasagne kochen gehen !!!

An interesseting, no-scientific, but personal view on things happen in Santiago de Chile by Cpt Paul Watson on the meeting of the International Whaling Commisson.

"It’s like a living dead gathering,” said Dave Rastovich of Surfers for Cetaceans commenting on the boring monotonous ramblings of Japanese bought and paid for puppet nations.

Skye Bortoli of Teens Against Whaling described the meeting this year as “pathetic, saying “this body will be known in the future as a small group of ecologically arrogant people who are condemning the world’s whales to agony and oblivion for petty politics and a few lousy bucks.”

Hannah Fraser a professional mermaid from Australia described the meeting as having to endure, “disappointingly banal rhetoric.”

bin schnell raus bis Freitag (endlich wieder "into the wild")

so, hiking gear gepackt und gleich wieder mit erhobenem daumen am Wegesrand ...

Richtung Ásbyrgi (siehe Sigur Ros "Heima" DVD) bzw. "The Jökulsárgljúfur National Park". Ca. 30km bis morgen nachmittag, vielleicht verlaenger ich auch was ... endlich schlafsack testen, am lagerfeuer gibts Couscous mit Tuna, und als Zwischensnack Nuesschen und Trockenfisch ("Harðfiskur") ... jái, ich verpasse das Fussballspiel, und?

hoffe nur, das es nicht regnet, habe immer noch keine 3layer Jacke ...

Howdy!

um es kurz zu machen: es war grossartig! spannend! aufregend!

Wie immer beim ersten Mal, zu konzentriert, zu aufgeregt, zu schnell vorbei, der Spass! Defintiv nicht das letzte Mal, auch wenn mein lieber Herr "Stjaki" wohl genauso alt war wie ich und ihm, im Gegensatz zu mir ziemlich die Puste ausging, bzw brav hinter den anderen her"tölpelte", ein braves Pferdchen!

Glaube es hatten alle Spass. Die Maedles in der Gruppe waren natuerlich alle relaxt und sassen schon tausendmal auf nem Pferd (bzw hatten selbst eins) und kicherten sich, bei meinem Anblick einen ab. Wartet's nur ab!

Das mit den "Oberschenkeln/Beinen-Pressen"Zeuchs habe ich auch noch nicht ganz gerafft (da war nix zu pressen?) Hab also einfach versucht so locker wie moeglich zu bleiben, und die Zuegel zu ziehen, bzw "hoho" zu rufen, wenn der alte Gaul ein wenig schneller wurde.

Auf jeden fall eine grandiose Art der Fortbewegung, draussen in der Natur. Wie toll muss das erst sein, wenn man "richtig" reiten kann (also auch die Grossen!)

Vor lauter Aufregung und Spnannung ganz vergessen, Fotos zu machen und das von mir auf dem Gaul hat noch Norris Freund ... reiche ich nach!

Heute abend Premiere! Herr Frodo auf dem Pferde!

Geh heute abend ne Runde reiten. Zum ersten Mal. Pferde! Aber doch die starken Kleinen! Islandpferde. Ich nenn sie immer "Pooooohhhniiess", das hassen die Islander. hehe!

... gestern abend bei der sehr schoenen schwedischen Mitsommernachtsparty von Johan und AnnaKatrin (DANKE!), die "Maedels von Saltvik-Ranch" kennengelernt (Island, Holland, Faroer), dem Reitgestutt um die Ecke.

Sie erzaehlten, das "Gentle Gigants" mit ihren Leutchen heute vorbei kommen wollten und da dachte ich mir, das ist eine gute Gelegenheit sich einzuhaken und als blutiger Anfaenger mit den Viehern nicht ganz so daemlich dazustehen.
